President Story

My name is Michelle Williams-Grant Co-founder of The Good Samaritan's For Children's Poverty. I am a Jamaican Native of Portland Jamaica WI. I believe in the word of God and I quote "God said to love thy neighbors as thou love thyself. These are very Strong words as if we honour these words what a wonderful world this would be.

As a Jamaican-Canadian I know what poverty is as I have experience poverty in my own life growing up in Jamaica. I know that my parent tried their best when we where growing up in Jamaica to provide for us, but at times economical factors, and employment resources stand as a barrier that causes poverty in our family life. I thank God to call Canada home as it allow me the opportunity to help others that are less fortunate.

I know when I decided to form this organization my family thought that I was crazy. I am not a millionaire with money, but in my heart, I am rich. "(As the author said if life is a dream then live the dream)"

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is my inspiration:
He said it best the three dimensions of a complete life: The length, the breadth, and the height of life. You see the length of life, as we shall think of it here is not its duration or its longevity, but it is the push of a life forward to achieve its personal end and ambitions. It is the inward concern for one's own welfare. The breadth of life is the outward concern for the welfare of others. The height of life is the upward reach for God.

I know I may not have all the money in the world, but it is my passion to help people.
If you can't be a highway be a trail.
If you cannot be the sun be a star,
For it isn't by size that you win or you fall-
Be the best of whatever you are (Douglas Mallock)
As long as there is poverty in the world, I can never be rich, even if I have a billion dollars. No nation can stand out and say we are being independent. We are interdependent. No man is an island no man stands alone. We are all apart of the continent and we are all a part of humanity.

Thank you,

- Michelle Williams- Grant
